RLS Contract Attorney Profile
Because our corporate and law firm clients demand the best contract talent, RLS is selective. Academic excellence is essential. Our contract attorneys generally attended a "top 40" U.S. law school and graduated in the upper half of their class.
See U.S. News Online Top Law Schools Chart or the Vault Law School Intel. They also hold undergraduate or graduate degrees from noted private or public institutions, and have been recognized with such honors as Phi Beta Kappa, cum laude, or magna cum laude, or summa cum laude.
A relatively stable employment record at a national U.S. law firm or major corporation, with one to ten years of complex business-litigation or transactional experience, is preferred. A one-year or two-year federal clerkship is a plus!.
RLS evaluates the effectiveness of your resume, and helps you revise it to improve your chances of obtaining an interview. Resumes are released and submitted for consideration only with your verbal or written permission.
Interview Preparation, Post-Interview Analysis, And Advocacy
RLS preps and coaches you on the best way to conduct yourself during the interview. If you have not interviewed for a contract position recently, it is important that you discuss interviewing strategies with us. Given the current Covid-19 pandemic economy and its impact on the now highly competitive lateral attorney market, a flawed interviewing technique can mean missing out on outstanding corporate or law firm opportunities. If possible, we supply you with a list of the lawyers who will be interviewing you, as well as background information on the private sector client.
RLS provides you with confidential feedback on how your interview was received — so you know how to improve your performance during subsequent rounds.
We troubleshoot problems as they arise, addressing any misperceptions either you or the client may have developed. We schedule follow-up meetings and discuss all relevant post-interview comments.
RLS is your advocate during the entire process. We draw attention to your strengths, and downplay your weaknesses. We work hard to maximize your chances of attaining the career-enhancing contract opportunity. In some in-house scenarios, the contract opportunity can result in a permanent position.
